It doesn't take long for Oliver and Jennifer to spend all of their free time together. But neither of them is very successful at persuading the other of anything other than their enjoyment of spending time together. While Oliver tries to persuade himself that he dislikes this opinionated girl who has no idea who he is or how prominent his family is, Jennifer tries to persuade Oliver that she could care less about his family or his remarkable athletic talents. This meeting leads to coffee, which leads to a date to see Oliver play hockey. Jennifer, the clerk on duty that fateful night, however, disagrees with Oliver's tastes and feels free to express her dissatisfaction. This library, rather than the one at Harvard, Oliver favors since the needed reading material is considerably easier to acquire. On the Radcliffe campus, Oliver meets Jennifer in the library. The twentieth-century version of Romeo and Juliet is Love Story. Their marriage, on the other hand, is one of power and volatility that takes them both up in an uncontrollable wave, their love surviving all but one obstacle: mortality. Jennifer is the sole child of a widowed baker, and she is the polar opposite of Oliver.
Oliver is a privileged youngster, the son of a prominent family that dates back many generations.
