It’s honestly one of the most fun and exciting books Murakami has ever come out with, and comes fully recommended by me. This novel is full of wit and peculiarity it takes the reader on a journey from Tokyo to the wilderness of Hokkaido it’s a thoroughly enjoyable romp it’s strange without being too unbearably whacky. They’re not great, honestly, and while A Wild Sheep Chase is technically a sequel to those novellas, you absolutely do not have to read them first. With Kafka on the Shore, Haruki Murakami gives us a novel every bit as ambitious and expansive as The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which has been acclaimed both.
